Seems like all recent talk has been about carriers and new naval aircraft, and of course the wars and recent uprisings. But apparently we're getting real close to the final moments of awarding a new 55 Billion Heavy Bomber contract, maybe as soon as a few months after the November elections. Working on the new LRS-B could be a joint effort between Boeing and Lockheed, possibly Northrop Grumman, and could Lockheed be thinking on going it on their own.

I haven't rally heard much about it lately and surely didn't realize we were so close on awarding a contract. Hell seems like just a couple years ago they were trying to ditch the project!

The Air Forces isn't going to let a contract for a bomber's production.

They're getting ready to take proposals from aerospace companies like Boeing, N-G, Lockheed... for a new bomber based on spec's issued by the USAF.

This will be a long process given the the USAF's poor record with the F-22, Joint Strike Fighter, and Air to Air refueling contract.

Way I hear it this has already been done and proposals excepted long ago, and that it the award should be made sometime in early spring 2015... and requiring 80-100 aircraft to be delivered within 10 years!
