My '92 Mountain Gun bought new when I was 33. Put a cheater sight on it so I can zap a WT w it couple months past my 55th birthday. Jeez the years have rolled by fast!

As a semi-pro gun whore, however, I will also at times take a M57-2 I acquired in '08 out to the woods, also looking for blood on the fallen leaves.

ColdCase, how long have you had that Aimpoint on your Mtn Gun? I've been tossing around getting a something just like that for my Contender, as my eyes have started fuzzing up the front sight in the last couple years. Nice Smiths.

It'll either be this-

Redhawk, 2x Simmons, 310gr. gas checked Lee bullet, 21 grs H110 for about 1,200. I suspect the scope may have chit the bed last fall, but haven't shot it since to check. [Linked Image]

Or my new model 69 with the same 310 gr. bullet, slowed down to around 1,000 fps.

BR, those 69's are sweet looking guns.

usually make a few hunts each year with T/C's and revolvers...

last few years. most used are a pair of .41 mags, one a 14" stainless bullberry, the other a 9" T/C custom shop.

[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

got a few areas we hunt where ranges get a bit wider, most used there is a 15" MGM in .25x30/30 Ackley Improved.
[Linked Image]

was shooting a S&W 657 classic hunter in 41mag some, but didnt shoot it as often, traded it to another fellow here on the 'fire last year.

I've been hunting with a scoped SRH in .44mag for many years, but this year I got back into the T/C Contender. I'll be using a 14" T/C Contender chambered in 7-30 Waters.

Off and on abt 18 mos. the dot is a bit fuzzy due to astigmatism. More than accurate enough for 100 yd shots.

A scope may be a bit better.

Didn't draw anything this year (again!) so I figured WTH. I'm packing my Bisley SBH and am seriously contemplating carrying the Ruger 77/44 with peep sights (supposed to be in this week).

Still doing load development but will probably fling some 305's (BTB) at about 1000-1100 outta the SBH.

FyrepowrX, Steve in PA, beautiful Contenders, guys. I picked up my dad's love of the platform, and the fun of shooting it is why I go shooting lately. Those are 1st generation frames, yes?

It is. 3.75" barrel. It's not a Super Blackhawk...it's an ber Blackhawk!

It's older brother arrived today. Replaced the (very) heavy spring with Volquartsen sear and spring (super crisp and light, now) and put the NECG peep on...

Hope to zero it in this weekend...

I like those little rifles, Mojo. I'd really like one in .44 and .357 mag.

MoJo,

That is one UBER setup you got there.

They have the .357 in my local shop right now but I can't abide .357's because they're UBER gay.

I'm gonna give my .357's to the boy.

In hindsight, that last comment doesn't read very well.

I'll give 'em to BGG instead, and buy my son a .44.

Yeah, I like that better.

Mojo: I recently picked up one of the ruger Uber carbines too. like you said, trigger is uber heavy. but the carbine is otherwise uber, only weighs about 5 1/2 lbs. uber little sumbitch.

Either this, my BFR 454
[Linked Image]

Or this, my Blackhawk .45 Colt
[Linked Image]

Big bore single actions are a thing of beauty!

Pretty much just deer so I don't load the .454 all the way, but a 280gr WFNGC at 1400 fps does nicley. For the .45 Colt, probably anywhere from a 270gr hardcast to a 300gr hardcast.

The 250gr XTP does well too loaded to around 1400 fps. Recoil isn't bad at all from the BFR with a load that light.

I'll be carrying my SAA loaded with 270 Thunderheads or my Lipseys Flat-Top Ruger in 44 Spec with 275 gr WFN for any critter that wanders in close.

Yes, it's a Gen 1 T/C Contender. I have two frames; one blued and one stainless steel.

In stainless, I have a 14" .223 and a 10" .22 Hornet. In blued, I have the 14" 7-30 Waters and a 10" .22lr.
