Hey Guys, My '99 has an F on the barrel and G on the reciever with the barrel removed, it is a takedown model. The forestock is checkered with a delicate schnoble no checkering on the end. It has a pistol grip w/ checkering. The front sight is a ramp w/steel bead the rear is a Lyman 1A. Oh yeah, it's a 300 Savage. What exact model do I have?

I just bought one that I'm in love with. It's an 1899a takedown in .300 savage. S/N is 243,***. It's in great shape but I'm afraid it's been refinished, so I'll probably refinish it again but with a more period finish instead of the tru-oil that I suspect they used. Otherwise in great condition for an 85 year old gun. I'm going to look for a peep sight for it and intend to use it for hunting but it won't go to the woods. For me, hunting means opening the window in the living room. Got one taht way this morning with my 99E post-mil.
There is only one planet earth. How many chances do you think we get with her?
I found a letter written to me 'bout 6 yrs ago, a man who has his late father's 1895 .303, oct.bbl. rifle. #10,047, acquired it about 1940. The granddad, a machinist, mechanic, & gunsmith, didn't like the long length & chewed him (dad) out for it. So-o-o he cut down the oct. barrel and fixed it back to life. Son said he hasn't fired it in years.
Well, we'd need all new counts from Steve and Mike for it to be close, they've probably bought another hundred or so by now.

Can we move this along?" a bored voice stated. "I have places to be and people to shag."
Well, I've reviewed this thread, created a bit of a spreadsheet and here's what I've got. This includes ONLY 1895's, 1899s and 99s. 1895 Commemoratives fall into the 99 category.. cuz I'm generous.
I didn't include friends or neighbors, only forum members and relatives. Seemed more pertinent..
