The absolute best video I've seen an ages, thanks for that!!
"The day I went to work everybody showed up to watch Johnny Luster work. Well, they had a wheelbarrow there, and said I was to push that thing around all day. I looked at it, then turned around and headed for the mountians..."
Good video, though it's not the first time it's been posted here.
In fact, the last time I saw it, I also posted that if you go looking on Netflix, you can find a documentary on the use of the Spitfire as a photo-reconnaisance platform.
Wow! That was great! Thank you for posting that. Those photo recon pilots had major cajones.
And I love the sound of that V-12.
My dad, now gone, was a gunner and backup navigator on a B-29 in the Pacific theater. Only a couple of times did I ever get him to talk about it. One of those times he talked about a recon pilot that he got to know while on some island out there. Those guys flew thousands of miles over open water, usually unarmed, and with very rudimentary navigation equipment.
When I was a kid, one day there was something on TV about dropping the bomb on Hiroshima and about how many people were killed. I heard Dad mumble under his breath "We killed a lot more than that when we firebombed Tokyo." I didn't think much of it at the time, but later when I asked him about it, he clammed up and wouldn't talk about it.

Bring enough gun and know how to use it.
