I'm looking for a contact who would be one of the better smiths or guys that do pure trigger magic to send a few older stainless rem 700 triggers to. I know I could try myself but would rather have it professionally done.
Any recommendations on who?

I have heard many people speak highly of Neil Jones. www.neiljones.com/html/gunsmithing.html

I would do both. I'd try to adjust it yourself, and if you can't satisfy yourself, load em' up and send them to a smith. But it's really easy to get a Remmy trigger to break pretty darn clean. Just know that they all have a little personality, and that some will tune really easy and others will baffle you. Make sure you start with a good screwdriver that fits the screws, and a dental pick or something similar to be certain that all the sealant that Remmy puts on the screws is removed before you address the screws with your screwdriver. http://quarterbore.com/library/articles/rem700trigger.html
Teach every child you meet the importance of forgiveness. It's our only hope of surviving their wrath once they realize just how badly we've screwed things up for them.

Gunsmith about 2 blocks from my house does a fantastic job. Done several for me. He's a competition shooter, so he knows what a good trigger is. Usually 5-10 days time frame. 2-2.5lbs that breaks like a glass rod $40ea. I can give you his info if your interested.
