And even fewer run 223s on long actions. Keep blowing smoke up your own ass.

The short cartridges on the long action is one of the compromises I spoke about above. So is the small and fiddly ejection/loading port.
Not picking a fight; I agree on the quality of those Tikka barrels but the rest of the rifle is a series of compromises.

Does it really offer a whole lot over a Vanguard S2. A bit of weight and ?? I would own neither so I am agnostic here but curious on the real delta between the two for the delta $$$.
Conduct is the best proof of character.

7-08 on a long action is just as retarded as a 223 on a long action.

Swap bolt stops, use a long action mag, and you never have worry about running heavies.
JG already has a Tikka 7-08 and he knows how well it shoots.

Why hinder yourself by running a 7-08 in a long action?

Lol why was a tikka ever mentioned? OP asked about a nosler. A long action 708 does sound cool...grin

Because the OP has a Tikka and has raved about its accuracy in the past. Therefore, buying another 7-08 is a gamble.
Starsky, lets go shooting sometime. I will bring a Tikka, you bring whatever...I'm setting my gong at 700 this weekend, should be fun.

I'd take ya up on that offer, but I'm out of state at school right now. Coming back this weekend, but have archery elk on the menu. Thanks though

Well at $2k+ here for the Patriot vs $600 or less for the Vanguard / Howa I don't the difference is enough. But I don't doubt the Patriot is superior in every way except price. The Patriot looks the sort of rifle to inspire pride of ownership too.

Got an email from nosler today, the magazine length on the 7mm-08 is 2.875". Not much room to stretch out those long Bergers.

Nice rifle. I'll bet it is going to be a shooter..
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Nice rifle. My 6.5x284 arrives tomorrow. How much do you estimate the rifle weighs?
