I just returned from a wonderful vacation in your fair state. My first trip and we fell in love with Alaska.
Started out in Anchorage then to Denali Park on the train. After 3 days in Denali,we traveled by bus thru Wasilla to Seward. From Seward by ship all the way to Vancouver, visiting Haines, Juneau, and Ketchikan along the way.

Moose, caribou, bears, whales, orcas, otters, sea lions, eagles and those beautiful blue glaciers. We even got to see Denali on a beautiful clear day. It almost overpowers the senses. I can see why you guys love it.

I would post pics but I know you have already seen it all. I think that 7.2 million dollar price tag was the greatest bargain in the history of the world.

It is beautiful, isn't it.

Next time, fly into Anchorage, rent a car or motorhome and see 1,000 times more and spend about the same amount of money.

If you have a bucket of money, fly out and see the Kobuk sand dunes, visit Cordova and drive out "The Road", fish for giant Arctic Char out of Kotzebue, drive to the end of Nebesna Road, take a float trip in the Woods-Tikchik drainage, go to McNeill Falls and watch the Brown Bears, go "gunk-holing" in the Inside Passage, and drive the Haul Road.

That's for starters. grin

The Russian Crown sought to repay money to its landowners after its emancipation reform of 1861 and borrowed 15 million pounds sterling from Rothschilds at 5% annually. When the time came to repay the loan, the Russian Government was short on funds. The Emperor's brother, Grand Prince Konstantin Nikolaevich offered to sell something useless.
