Based on this quickload data, you can get better velocities with an number of slower powders.

Yeah h4831, rl22 to name a couple
Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

You might want to ask your buddy why Varget? Is that all he has? That is a lot faster than any powder I would want to use for that combo.
As far as data goes, Hodgdon does have a web site. He probably should check there first.
Don't just be a survivor, be a competitor.

52gr of IMR 4350 is my load in the .280 with 140 TTSX's. Velocity is a tad under 3000fps, very accurate. I don't think Varget is your friend for this load.

I know you probably have the 140s, but you're better off with the 120 TTSX and about 3-400 fps gain. Nothing the 140 will do the 120 can't.

As some have said, Varget is too fast for a .280, better in a 7-08. It's also a lot harder to find than 4831 or RL19 and 22.

Yep, I've generally done best with IMR 4831 or RL 19. I can get the 120s to scoot to about 3300 with Hunter or Magpro though.

Just tried this load: 57 gr H4831SC, 140 Tsx, Rem brass, Rem primer 2,870 with no pressure signs. 24" Dan Pederson barrel with a long throat. All my H4831 loads have been just a bit better than IMR 4350.

Thanks guys, for some reason I'm not getting notifications when posts are added.
Anyways, he was going to use Varget because it was on hand. I'll convince him to get some RL19 and try it instead.
