I wanted to upgrade my camping and backpacking cooking set up. So far I'm a simple rehydrate kind of guy but a couple if things I didn't care for with my old GSI cup and pocket rocket set up.

My cup unless nested with the nalgene seemed odd to pack and ended up being unorganized in my packing system it seemed but that's mostly my fault at this point.

The size of the cup left me heating up eater multiple times for breakfast but that isn't a huge deal.

The size of the cup meant no actual cooking of anything at all is going to take place other than boil water. What if my dehydrated meals weren't available? Could I simmer some noodles? Not at this point.

Well after tons of reading and trying to figure out what direction I wanted to try first I settled on the Snow Peak 900 Trekker. It's super light. Large enough to cook a simple pasta meal it or boil in bag rice due to the larger volume and can nestle a larger gas canister which my smaller one wouldn't, as well as nest the Snow Peak Gigapower stove.

Titanium heats up super easily so I'll have to really stir the contents if trying to cook in the pot.

So far all I have used it for was to make coffee in the hotel with coffee packets but I already like that the added volume means I can load it up with coffee and it doesn't come close to over filling. The lid acts as a small fry pan but I see this as a perfect oatmeal bowl to have with my super sized coffee in the mornings when out in the woods.

I also wanted to get this 900 ml size and really see if it's the perfect do all size. So far it seems really a very manageable overall size composited to what I had before. Not much difference.

In this picture I have a large canister of fuel, GigaPower stove and lighter inside the cook pot. If I were to nest my old cup in the nalgene I'd still have to pack the fuel and stove separately. I feel like I'll have more options with this set up with very minimal size difference.

I love mine too for the same reasons. I also usually use the SP stove smile

I used to pack cooking/food stuff in the pot but stopped doing that. I find that all the little stuff is easier to pack in a small stuff sack and that I can make the large pot practically "disappear" by stuffing one end of other stuff into it - be it the tarp, hammock or sleeping bag. When I figured that out, I realized I could even pack 2 bigger pots! that way! smile

Four Dog Stoves used to make a little aluminum lid for that pot so you can loose that silly "frying pan". Saves a couple ounces as I recall. That is the pot the Bushbuddy was designed to nest in as well.

Trying to do this on a phone, ugh....

Anyway, its a peanut butter jar. Fuel fits upside down, with snowpeak lite max, spork, and lighter.

I was thinking that the 600 was a better mate to the 900 for better options.

Yeah, I'm planning to add the 900 to the pile. Between the 1400, 900, 600, Lite Max, Dragon Fly, and cat stove, there's lotsa options. If you really wanna cook, the dragon fly is the shizza and fits nicely in the 1400 set.

But I like to tinker with schit......

Hey thanks. I'll look at getting the 600 and if the 900 ever seems too small the 1400 is the next step.

I've been using the 700 snow peak starter kit for several years and it is the perfect size for my uses. Just over 9 oz.

I use a 700 and a 600. Been thinking of trying out the 900 just to be able to cook stuff in rather than just boil water. I don't think they are made to go together. It's a tight fit but it works great.
