I have a Cooper 52 in 280AI - I believe the rifle came with Warne bases from the factory.

I mounted a new Swaro z5 3.5-18x with a ballistic turret and Talley low rings a few months ago and have been shooting to 100y.

I never did use the bases that came as they seemed redundant and the rings went on the receiver.

Yesterday I was trying to get out to 300m to get ready for a hunting trip and ran out of elevation just before I could get out to 300. Had 24 clicks from my 100m zero before it ran out of elevation.

The Swaro manual suggests this is indicative of a scope barrel alignment problem.

At this point I don't know if it is the scope, rifle or something idiotic I'm doing (likely!)

Any advice would be appreciated Could it be related to me not using those bases? Don't understand why they shop with bases is the Talleys fit right on the receiver.

Try using the Warne bases and get the Burris Signature Zee rings. The Signature Zee rings will allow you to build some elevation.

Yeah use Zee rings on my 22 to shoot out to 200m. I think something basic is wrong here though and shouldn't require this

Measure the Distance from the Point where the bottom of the Scope touches the Ring ..... to where the Ring touches the Base . I think for Talleys , that would be the top of the Arc where it touches the Base . You might want to measure the Base Thicknesses too . You could try switching the Rings or Bases depending on what you measure and whether the Base holes are the same . If all else fails , do what others have suggested and go with the Burris set-up .

Something sounds jacked up w/ the initial set-up, but that doesn't change 6 moa being dialed in and not getting 3.25moa correction. Something sounds wrong w/ scope (and possibly mounts) - start w/ the scope...

I had difficulty with a new z5 the first time at the range. After it settled down it was good for about 200 rounds, then it needed a new spring. Since then it has been fine.
