Now that I have a new spotter on the way I am looking to see what you folks use instead of a tripod. Doug is shipping a beanbag jobber; any type of brackets that you can hookup onto your backpack? What system works for you? Most of my hunting will be hiking and spot/stalk, so I'm trying to keep weight down.

A Tri Pod is the best way to support a spotter period.............

What spotter did you go with?I have been talking to Doug for a while about a spotting scope and just cant decide what will work for me weight wise and in the right price range.

I went with the Swarovski with the 20x60 power eye piece.In a variable eye piece I feel that this is the best at this time.
I have a friend ( he is writing the instruction manuel for the new Nikon Tactical scopes) that works with a lot of different optics and he said that the high end Nikon is an exceptional spotting scope for the money and that it gets fairly close to the Swarovski at a fraction of the cost

For field use, I often use an extendable monopod. It is not as good as a tripod for stability. But, it works well - good enough that most people that try it end up getting one themselfs.

I bought one of the slightly used Lecia 62mms doug had on the classifieds, the best price I've seen for a scope that should fill my needs. He might have 1 or 2 left

The Leica will be a wonderfull adition to your equipment

Has anyone tried installing some type of mount on a plastic stock to for scouting. It would seem to me that with the leaves on the trees this would be pretty handy, but I'd like to get some tips on making it work.
