ingwe, Yesterday, I looked for a 750 Shimano Sedona reels.. They had 500's and 1000's.. I know little about reels.. The thing that seemed different was the gear ratio.. Is the 1000 ok??

1000 is too big for my tastes, but it is what most people go with. If you like the feel of it, you bet! Nice to hear they are making 500s again..... Caught this one on a 500 and a 4'9" rod

Nice fish!!! Do you ever try Ft. Peck?? One of the few northerns I ever caught was up there two springs ago.. Thanks for the info. on the reels.. I will try and look at the 750's. Since the 1000 is popular that is an option too.

Oddly enough Ive never fished Ft. Peck...but I understand from a number of people whose word I actually trust that it is close to phenomenal.
The 1000 is what most people would consider "Ultralight"...

I caught two very nice pike in Ft. Peck in late April.. There was a guy there with his family, they had 4 or 5 huge ones, and said they had caught 20 smaller ones.. I hope to return this spring.. What Shimano would be about the size of the old Mitchell 300?? Thanks.

about a 2500...
But I'll warn you...if you try even the lower priced Shimanos, you'll never get downwind of a Mitchell 300 again...

Put some quality rainbows in the boat today. Keep 2, released dozens. I can't wait to fish this lake next spring.

Ingwe has steered you right. I have daiwas, abu garcias, quantums and every thing in between and non of the last and stay smooth as long as the shimano spinning reels. I saw where you said all you could find was 750s and 1000s. A 1000 spool will fit on a 750. I have a 750 sahara and a 1000 saros and the spools are interchangeable. The height is the same the 1000 just has a larger diameter. The reel bodies are identical.
If you get a 1000 and want a 750 spool I think I have one. If you want it its yours you can have it. It even has power pro braided line on it that has been fished with once, i will have to find it, its in my cluttered basement. PM me if you want it.

Hit a high country lake with a troop of boy scouts. A few of the young ones had never been fishing before, or never landed anything bigger than a bluegill. Took them out trolling, 2 at a time. . More fun than catching a 3 lb Rainbow is seeing a kid do it, for the first time. Lots of smaller fish too. For what ever reason, they are hammering the jointed Rapalas and Rebels right now.
