I'll even amend the question. Derby (Tim, I believe it is, actually), how many times have you either 1) been shot at, or 2) been in an actual physical battle for your life that required you to fire rounds in defense?

Okay, I've condensed this to the point that it is obvious that the media is purposely attempting to aggravate race relations in the area. Why? Is it to just sell news or something else? Not so big a surprise or big question dd.. Having been shot at 3 times from fairly close range and having likely never fired a shot in anger in his life, total self preservation mode kicked in and 17 rounds out lickety split. That I can understand. I had a similar situation in the military fortunately, it was a training mission so no one hurt. I sure got reamed out for it. 17 rounds flying around a heavily pack community is unacceptable for the police or a civilian. What's the magic number?

My son lives in SL and says the Ferguson thing has been way overblown by the media. Seems to be isolated to a very limited area and not involving many people.

I was taught one thing during training in 101st Airborne and when training you answered every thing in these words , to kill without mercy. You didn't stop shooting or fighting until the threat was neutralized. If being shot at by one of these monkeys and it takes 17 shots to win the fight then fire 18 just to be on the safe side. Do what it takes to stay alive and to hell with the collateral damage.
