he's wanting a ruger .260 remington, which I told him is tough to find in a lefty.

any help is appreciated, thanks

Remington makes a youth Model 700 SPS called the Compact Synthetic with a 20" barrel and shorter LOP, but they only come in .243 and 7mm-08. The 7mm-08 would be pretty close to the .260 for performance and recoil if you stayed with the lighter weight bullets.

Tikka makes a line of lighter weight LH rifles in most of the popular chamberings. You'd have to swap out the recoil pad to get a shorter LOP but that's not hard to do.

thanks for the direction guys, didn't realize the obstacles ya'll have finding the rifle you want, not nearly enough offerings. you have my sympathies!

I might talk to him about getting a mini mauser in 7.62x39 and rebarreling later to a grendel if he still wants a 6.5.

thanks!

It's not a Ruger....

I know they get poo-poo'd a lot, but Savage makes what you're looking for in LH...

[color:#3333FF]SKU#: 19699 Package Series..

Model 11/111 Trophy Hunter XP in .260 Rem. LH

I've got a 16/116 FLCSS. A custom rifle it ain't, but it shoots well and did what I needed, back when I was on a budget.

Browning makes a Micro A or X bolt that offers a shorter LOP than standard, fitting a youngster or female pretty well. It's available in short action calibers but the 260 isn't one of them.

Tikka also makes a lefty .260, but the LOP might be too long for him. Light enough though.

also a tough find. I tried to get one for my daughter this fall and it was tough. I'm still on the look out but I'll find something.

There's a lh .260 in the classifieds right now. Last time I cut a Savage synthetic stock down it took about an hour using a hacksaw and some sandpaper.

Colorado, I just picked up a 300 RCM in the left hand Ruger Hawkeye, with the little 20 inch barrel. This is as close as Ruger comes to the Remmie Model Seven. It doesn't kick or blast any more than what you are looking at, with factory ammunition. I don't know how they did this with juggling powder mixes, but it works. 3310 fps with the SST 150 grain lead cored bullets. Nearly 300 fps less with the longer gilding metal GMX 150 grain.

CDNN has these lefties in both Matte and Gloss finish for a pinch under $600 plus about $16 for ins. & shppg. Mine came with a lousy trigger pull, ( 5.5 lbs), an out of tolerance claw extractor, and wood binding on the mag box and bolt stop lever. But its deathly accurate, at least in slow fire.

BTW, I chose the Matte finish since I'm using it as a donor rifle for one of my 300 RCM based wildcats. The new, longer, Hart straight fluted, S.S. barrel will be glass beaded to an egg shell finish.

If I wasn't left handed I could have built a Remmie Model Seven in their 7mm RSAUM, and got to the same place with a 24 inch fluted barrel. But the new Hornady factory 300 RCM ammo does the same thing in the 20 inch long tube.

Ruger sent my G.S. a replacement claw ext. and then he did a trigger job, and also relieved the interference of the wood in a couple of places. The first claw had 0.022 inch more clearance from its jaw to the bolt face, then does the no chge. replacement. The refined trigger pull is now 2.7 lbs.

CDNN has both finishes on this rifle for a pinched penny under $600 + $16 for ins. and shppg.

I've had a chance to play with this newbie. It isn't really a compact Magnum. Its a M-77 with a 20 inch barrel. Its no Model Seven, but its a CRF Left hand action. It will feed the 350 Rem Mag., which is a bit much for a youth. I think it will feed the 6.5mm Rem Mag, as well. So there are four factory cartridges, available for this short action. Three are 30-06 Capacity, and the 300 RCM is half way between the 06 and the 300 WSM.

But its still no Remmie Model Seven. I put Leupold Ultra High one inch rings, with their bridge mount on my left handed daughter's Model Seven, so she can brush off the safety with the rifle on her shoulder.
