A friend of mine left me in charge of the shop so I was playing with all the pistols. Well I have a Kahr P45 for every day carry and a Beretta 92A1 9mm with 3 18 round mags for bad areas. Well before he got back there was one pistol missing from the shelf. First words out of his mouth was congrats for selling a gun on my first day. I just smiled. I guess he will get a good smile when he finds it and 80 rounds of Corbon HP ammo in the bottom of the safe with my paper work.
Glock 42 380.
I don't need it but it felt good in the hands. Pointed well. Trigger breaks on target. I had a gen1 model 23 that I couldn't miss with and sold it. Later I picked up a gen2 23 that sucked for my hands. I don't know what they changed but I know the grip was wrong on the gen2. for me. I swore off glocks after that. This little sucker actually impressed me. 7 in the gun 6 in the reload and it fits behind the wallet well and hidden. I think I'm going to like it. I think I'm really going to like it for areas where people think I shouldn't have a gun. I'd rather be alive in jail verses dead without a fight.
If you got a M42 let me hear about it. Not pretend have one.

Has no one picked up one of the 42's yet? I know they had problems when first released but I figured someone on here would be brave enough to give one a try.

I just think they could have made it a 9x19 in about the same size. My Sig 938 carries just well, for me.

Les, I don't have one, but I did get a chance to shoot one a bit. Although it is a tad bigger than the Ruger LCP and Taurus TCP, it is much easier to shoot due to the frame size and the superior sights.
If I were in the market for a pocket 380, The Glock 42 would be the one I'd bring home.

I have one and I really like it. It is very accurate at 25 yds and easier to shoot than the Kahr p380. The only issue I have with it is that the slide doesn't remain open on the last round. Other than that it has been pretty impressive and it's a joy to carry. I shot seven different popular defensive hp loads into water soaked phone books, which doesn't necessarily mean anything in the way of concrete data. All shots were from three feet away and the Hornady Critical Defense was the only bullet that expanded, but it's penetration was dismal. Actually none of the other round penetrate very much either. The Buffalo Bore hard cast standard pressure certainly does penetrate though. The 42 I have functions with every type of ammo I have shot through it. If Glock introduced a 9mm version I would be all over it.

I agree bea. This would be in no way a primary carry gun but I think it would be a great back up if my 45 failed for some reason. Plus it's got to be better than a sharp stick. I don't need or can not use rifles where I deer hunt but there fun to shoot. I'm thinking the 42 will fit the same role.

Had a Ruger LCP for my "gun when you can't have a real gun"
After getting one of these little glocks in my hands I traded my LCP in on it.
For ME, it points and "hits" way better than the LCP. Just a skosh bigger but still small enough for pocket carry.
I'll still mostly pack my 1911 but this sure makes a good backup/summer carry gun.

It's really good to hear some good reviews from you guys. Now tell me what your wife or girlfriend thinks.
I'm lucky, I live in a pretty great place as far as threats go. My main idea for the 42 is loose / stray dogs. I have a good fear of them. When I was about 12 years old I got cornered in the river smallmouth fishing by 3 mutts for around 4 hours. It was spring and it was cold water. I was a river guide in WV and NY for 8 years and that's the closest I've ever came to hypothermia. I went back the next day and solved that problem with a Ruger MKI. I'm thinking this little Glock would fit right in for the summer walks with the boys.

I've also read the reviews of the slide stop popping up on the hotter loads. " Bullslo Bore" is there a slide stop spring that could be replaced to fix that? Or are there steel Giude rods for the 42 or heavier springs that could slow things down? This is a sorta toy for me so I'm willing to play with stuff before I start bashing them.

Ran some CCI Blazer aluminum cased .380 ammo through my little Glock yesterday. It functioned 100% with this stuff. Great cheap pratice ammo, and I don't have to chase brass for reloading!
Got about a 3" group for 7 shots off-hand at 10 yards. This is about as well as I can do with ANY dubble action auto.
This little gun seems to be a "keeper"

My wife picked the Sig P238 over a Glock 26 just because she could get her hand around it and operate the slide. She could shoot the G26 OK but the P238 better because it fit.

Les,
I put some skateboard tape on the front strap of my Glock 42.
All I can say is; WOW! what a difference in "grip-ability"
It sure makes this little pistol easier to hang on to.
