I don't have the inside scoop, but I know him well enough to say he was sick of the drama, the trolls, and the contention. He is just a plain good guy, knows his stuff, and loves to shoot/hunt a lot. I will have to look him up next time Im in Boz Angeles. That's the problem with the relative anonymity of the Internet. I'm sure we've all had folks say things on a keyboard they'd never say face to face. Or at least within reach.
"An archer sees how far he can be from a target and still hit it, a bowhunter sees how close he can get before he shoots." It is certainly easy to use that same line of thinking with firearms. -- Unknown

There was an article on internet manners in the Rotarian Magazine a few months ago. I started a thread on it and there were some good comments on the subject. http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/9048057/1Scenarshooter is another who was a great contributor and seldom posts any more. Seems we lose the ones we need to keep and keep the ones we need to lose...DF

Yep, Dober got tired of Campfire experts who kept telling him he couldn't possibly have done stuff he'd done dozens of times. For a while he tried to convince them he knew what end of a rifle a bullet came out of, but eventually grew weary of having nitwits and trolls jumping into so many threads.

The collective knowledge on this forum is invaluable. Even some of the stuff Ingwe posts.

Seriously, the Fire is a great place to share Loony info and learn a great deal from the collective experience of so many accomplished riflemen and hunters. The Fire is not too unlike eating chicken wings. You chew and swallow the meat, spit out the bones. There's an art to knowing the difference... DF

I like the comment on manners. We've already got enough tough guys. Some manners would help balance the books.

What happened to the old saying.... "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything"
and
"It's better to keep your mouth shut, and appear to be stupid, than to open your mouth, and remove all doubt..."
It is a shame, we NEED people like them back....

Dober and I prayed to the Monolithic Gods for a couple years to make a 32-40 gr TSX.....
No luck... FWIW, I know they've made them as I've shot them. I guy I met once through a different forum was on their 'Pro Staff'. He requested a few to use in his 20 Tactical (pre-204 days) and used them on deer in Idaho. Loved 'em for kids to use. Doubt I can find the article, but he wrote one for the Deer Hunters of Idaho group that they published in their newsletter. It was mostly about taking kids hunting, but talked a bit about the rifle and loads he let the kids use. I only got to shoot them at ground squirrels. They died...
