Can't seem to hit a sweet spot with the 140 in my custom 7 mag. Gun shoots 162s like wildfire but I am about to pull my hair out a trying to get these 140s to shoot similar groups. Tried retumbo h1000 h4350.....jammed to 50 thou jump. Should I just move on?

Might the BC of the 160 make it just as good at longer range (or better than) the 140 anyhow? The 160 has done real well for me in a couple 7mm rifles. Accubonds can be hit or miss or at least have been for me. Crazy thing is when one of my guns doesn't like the sexy ab it usually dotes on plain Jain ugly hornady interlocks...and I mean almost always.

Why don't you just stick with 160s? Why do you keep wanting 140s?

Are you just varying OAL, or did you start with varying powder charge?
You didn't use logic or reason to get into this opinion, I cannot use logic or reason to get you out of it.

I've found slightly faster powders like Rl-19 or Rl-17 work better with 140gr. bullets.

It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

Have you checked the runout of your rounds? I was having trouble getting my 7mm mag to shoot & when I put my rounds on a Sinclair concentricity gauge it was all over the place, a new set of Forster dies fixed it. I think the plastic tip plays havoc with seating in a lot of dies.

68 or 69g of H4831 in WW or R+P brass lit by 215GMs has been a sweetie under the 140NABs in several rigs.

The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

I've had good luck with them. Only tried the 140's in one gun though.
I probably hit more elk with a pickup than you have with a rifle. I have yet to see anyone claim Leupold has never had to fix an optic. I know I have sent a few back. 2 MK 6s, a VX-6, and 3 VX-111s.

This is a group with the 160 gr AB and the 7x57 Winchester. It measured a hair over 3/4". Believe it or not, this top group was three shots. I ran out of targets and lowered the crosshair setting aboutsix inches to fire the bottom group.

To OP; if you believe in the "magic" of the 7mm Mag, then as others have suggested continue using the 160 gr bullets you've had good luck with. Believe it or not, a 160 at 2900 +/- is going pretty damned fast.
