What are the biggest Objective Diameter size you can use with low & medium rings on a Ruger M77 ?
Treestands don't demand. Treestands don't complain. Treestands simply ask me to sit down and listen.

Ruger270, I've been able to use 40mm (non-AO) in the low set which is a #3 and a #4 on Hawkeyes and the tang safetys. I'm pretty sure the med. set (#5 rear and #4 front) will handle up to a 44mm obj. These are with the standard sporter profile barrels, don't know if a mag. profile would make a difference or not. John

Forgot to add, according to Ruger there is exactly 1/8th" difference in each graduation of ring height sets. John

I have two non-standard bbls (Lilja #3 & #4) on Hawkeyes and can get 33 & 36mms into low rings on both but not 40s.

Utah, I couldn't get a 42mm to work in the low set on a Tang safety but the 40s would go, albeit with very little clearance. Not sure of the difference in the bbl. shank on the tang safety and the MKII/Hawkeye, but seem to have a TINY bit more clearance on the HE and MKIIs. John

Ruger told me it wouldn't work but I put the low rings on my Hawkeye and a Leupold 3-9X40 with no problem.

lows will work on my 3 pos rugers with 40mm but it also depends on the scope whether you can work the bolt all the way or not. my 77/22 with 3-9x40 elite needed the medium set.
My diploma is a DD214

Coyote, they told me the same thing. I really liked their cust. service better when it was in-house. While Ruger C/S still takes good care of you, since The Service Group Inc. or whomever took it over often I know more about a particular product when I call than the "service consultant" does. When Mr. Bill was there that was not the case.

Hey John, I sent in a rifle for a friend (I'm a retired gunsmith) and the first guy I talked to tried to tell me what was wrong. After telling him I knew what was wrong and told him I wanted to talk to his Supervisor. I told the Supervisor I had forgotten more that that guy would ever know, he put me with a very good rep. that really took care of me. Got the rifle back and the stuff they did to it was fantastic. The bottom line is who you talk to.
