I am trying to find out information about the 6.5x55 Swedish rifle in this model such as years of production, total amount produced for each year, current market prices and of course all the pros and cons. Thanks

I would go to a book store and look through the current copy of Fjestads gun value book.

I don't recall the 6.5 Swede being chambered in the Classics. It followed the 7mm Mauser in the late 80's along with the .280 Remington.

Pro's - Light recoil, accurate, components, deep penetraing with the right bullets, competence up to elk but likely been used on larger game.
Con's - availability in factory rifles, although there is a lot of surplus '96 Mausers floating around that can be tricked up a little.

I have a New haven classic in 6.5 Swede that I bought in the early 90's (getting gray haired has ruined some of my memory as to the exact date). I will probably have it cremated with me when I go.

I have one as well, also had a stainless classic that I (foolishly) sold.

The pics are of a classic. The OP was asking about featherweights. Any of the others mentioned a featherweight?

Every time I say " they never made those..." somebody shows me one.... blush

It took me several years but I located and purchased an "as new" New Haven, Model 70 Classic Featherweight in 6.5x55. Mine is blued, it came from an estate sale in the Boston area.

Nice rifle, if you like Model 70 Classics (and I do) there is no downside.

DOH - I missed 'FWT' in the OP..

But I do have a blued Classic FWT in 6.5X55 somewhere in one of the safes.. Bought it from a local guy who wanted the money to buy something else.. I wasted NO time in the acquisition..

Fjestad's book (on page 2183 (33rd edition)) shows the Classic FWT Swede was built from '97 on..

Its good to hear all pros and no cons at this point. I just purchased one new in the box this past weekend and am debating on whether to hunt with it this upcoming season or to keep it in original unfired condition and sell. I am torn between.
