I don't think the GP-100 is any "better", just different. It's only better in the sense that the Smith 686 is better than the Model 19. In other words, if you're firing a lot of full-power magnum loads in it, the larger gun is the better choice. That said, the Security Six always impressed me as a more robust gun than the 19, so there was not as much need for the 100 (as opposed in the Smith line to the need for the 686).

If the Security Six is in new condition, or such that you can't tell it from new, the price is probably okay. I'd think $275 would be a much better point to get into it at if there is definite wear.

You have my permission to get it if you want. heheeeheehe

Knowing how much I like my Security Six - and if I could somehow confirm it's "unfired" status - I wouldn't call that a ripoff. I think you could find a decent shooter in the same model for substantially less, though it might take some time and effort.

In his book, Ruger and His Guns, by R.L. Wilson, Bill Ruger stated that he never made a penny on any Security Six they made. They are very strong guns, especially for their compact size.

I personally like them very much. If I wanted it, I would pay the $329.00.

Thanks...Bill.

I just paid $315 for one and thought I got a good deal. I don't know that I got a great deal, but after looking quite a bit, I made the move. Life's too short to worry about $10 or $15. Guns aren't an investment anyway, unless you are very lucky or very good. They'll do OK holding their value, if you buy something decent to start with, but that's about it.....

CDNN is selling NIB blue models with "low 3 digit serial numbers" for $349. See page 11 of their newest catalog. http://www.cdnninvestments.com/dowournewcat.html

Used to be you could find these all over in the mid 200's but their actual selling price has been going up. Look at thier prices on Gunbroker and Auctionarms and you can see they are in the mid 300's now. In stainless and with condition, I don't think he too out of reach. Offer him $285 and see what they say. Ryan

Don't play price games with the seller; you can loose a lot of good firearms by playing the role of cheap buyer. The handgun is worth the price in unfired condition. If you like it, buy it, enjoy it and don't look back.

Cheyenne, those guns at CDNN went quick and are long gone.

I agree with the poster that the Security Six is a fine handgun, and in the last couple of years has come back in to very great popularity. Probably because of the initial prices you could get them at and then they found out what a fine handgun they were and the prices have continue to rise. If you want the gun get it. You can't tell if it's been fired or not sounds like at least "like new" condition. I always offer a little less than what people are asking as a matter of principle because most gun dealers expect that and price accordingly. I bought three guns this weekend at the gun show, 2 stainless Security Sixes and a Colt trooper in 357, all told I spent $690 on all three guns. Good deals are out there but they usually aren't the "like new guns". You like it buy it you certainly aren't getting ripped off and for a few extra bucks than you think is a great deal, it is certain to give years of pleasure long after you forget the price.
