My deer hunting career started in 79 with Dad's Marlin 35. The next year he had a 93 Mauser 7x57 ready for me. He bought the 35 somewhere around 1960 and has killed a bunch of deer with it. Fast forward to now and his arthritis gives him problems with the lever and cocking and uncocking the Marlin. I asked him last week if I could carry the old 35 a couple of days this week and he was more than happy to see it hit mountain again. This morning a group of 6 does were coming across the ridge above me. The old girl barked and this was the result: The old stuff still works just fine

I love seeing rifles with character and that have a real family connection getting used. I be happy with one just like your dad's to pass on to the next generation when I am done. (hopefully a long time in the future)

Everytime I pickup my old 93 Spanish Mauser in 7x57 I see my first 3x3 whitetail buck I shot at 40 yds with IMR 4350 and a 140 NPT on Opening day 1972. Good job Marc keep'em whacked . Magnum Man

You did right by your Dad and his old rifle when you made meat with it today. Congratulations!

Thanks guys. He was really happy when I showed him the old girl still worked. That rifle has seen a lot of hard use, it was his primary deer rifle for over 30 years.

I like the choice of scope. I cringe whenever I see a traditional lever gun, especially one with a little age on it, wearing a big variable...

Nice big doe! Tasty venison for the freezer.
I inherited a Marlin 35 from my Uncle Larry's estate and it shoots very accurately. One year he hunted in Canada with it and shot a big moose. Many bears in Maine were felled too. But this rifle rec'd most of its use hunting whitetails in the mountains of Pennsylvania.
