Just thought I would give you guys a heads up. I bought Billy Moll's new DVD " Hunt for the Unknown". Basic story is Billy's dad and his best friend do an Alaskan caribou hunt guided by Billy. Joe Moll's (Billy's dad) is using an early 20's Savage 99 in 303 Savage with open sights. Great video and only made better by the use of the 99 !!!

It's the best hunting video I have ever watched. Not just the hunting it is the whole story beginning to end.

JMO,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,BUT I wouldn't call it a "great" video. More like a sales pitch. It's OK. But not my cup of tea.

Most hunting videos (and TV shows for that matter) are glorified sales pitches. I quit watching them long ago, and now whenever I tune one in out of curiosity I find that things haven't changed. Not my cuppa tea either.

In all fairness, I should have a look at this one before I lump it in with the rest.

Aside from a 99H carbine in .303 it's an hour and a half of talking. I haven't gotten through the whole thing yet.

I take it you've seen it. I finished it last night. The fellow shooting the Rem 760 '06 made a great shot. BUT the guy shooting the 99H in .303 made and even GREATER shot all things considered. But yes, a TREMENDOUS amount of jibberish.

I fast-forwarded through all the intro stuff. Both shots were well made. The video is, thankfully, a lot better than most hunting vids in that it is realistic and not a big advertisement for gear, and the celebration of the 99 was the highlight. However, as much as he touts himself to be an "Alaska guide", it seems he actually lives 3000 miles away; the kind of guide Alaskans call "wilderness pimps".
Even if you tune out the talking, (and the guy isn't that great with prose, though he thinks he is) the Brooks Range scenery is spectacular. I love interior Alaska.
