I would say with you the 300 did it's job. That buck couldn't swim out of that. Not with that shoulder shot.

Phil he has 11 points .I don't know why but I have killed several around here that have a lot of stickers .He walked by me at about 10 yards, had to wait on him to clear some brush an shot him at about 30 yards .Tom

That's a nice deer! Nicer rifle.
Seems in an area, things must run in the family, out where I hunt, a lot of them seem to have racks where the main beams come almost all the way together. Must have been a dominant buck with that trait around for a while.

Saw another forum (can't remember which one), that has a "where it dropped" topic. Would be neat to see where these actually dropped...with a photo of a Savage nearby. I once found a doe I heart shot UNDER a brush pile. It took me 40 minutes to dig her out. My only clue was the blood trail. Congrats! V.nice photo for the album.
