This year my daughter turned 11 and she wanted to go on a deer hunt with me. So on opening day of Missouri rifle season we went on her first hunt. It was a cold morning and lots of hunter in the woods. We setup a ground blind and turned on the buddy heater  . This hunt was at Cold Water State forest. She was ready for this hunt and so was I. We have been going to the range and doing lots of shooting. She had a choice to shoot a AR15 with a adjustable stock in .223 or a Remington 700 Mountain rifle in 7mm-08. She liked the 7mm-08 because of the Leupold 2.5-8x36 scope. This gun was shooting 110gr TTSX bullets over RL15 @3200fps. At 0830hrs we had a spike come from behind use and it stopped about 65 to 70 yrs away right behind a big tree. The only thing you could see was the head and its butt the rest was covered. I helped her get the rifle in place for the shot and took the safety off. I asked her if she could see the deer in the scope and she said "yes dad" . I started to tell her to wait for the deer to step out so she could have a broad side shot at the deer when she pulled the trigger. She hit the spike in the neck and it went strait down the little 110 gr TTSX did its job and so did my daughter....

Thanks for taking the time to write up the story of your Daughter's first deer hunt. Very glad to hear that she was successful in taking her first buck. Congratulations to the both of you, and here's hoping that you get to hunt together for many seasons to come.

Thanks for all the kind words! Now after this hunt she wants a bow to do some bow hunting and that's exactly what I'm getting her for Christmas....
