He and several others met a very unfortunate end in his sporting goods shop in 1952. One evening before closing a gas leak blew up the whole building! Bad scene.

First (and only time) I shot a Model 71, the owner let me fire it at the range, at 100 yards. I center punched the bullseye with it, obliterating the X in the center. The owner was startled, and reminded me it wasn't for sale
