Hard to beat a hornady 150gr spire point for deer. Accurate, cheap, effective. Not trendy and no one wants to hear you brag about something old and cheap. I do not even use them, i prefer my old 165g Nosler BTs, Still working out of a 20 year old stash.

Either one but I use Nosler 165 PT's for everything from deer through Elk and don't have to mess w/ sights ect. I use book max loads of I-4064. Muddy

I like a 165 cup n core that shoots good out of my rifle. One of my favs is the old Nosler Solid Base.

165s over RL15 for me. Speer for practice and the NPT for hunting. Same POI out to 250 or so. But 150s work well too.

I prefer 150s but that is because my rifle tends to be most accurate with that weight. My guess is you will notice no difference in on game performance between the two.

I prefer the 150gr in my 308. They do quite well.

Whatever you are willing to put up with, is exactly what you will have.

PAYPAL, sucks and I will never use them again. I recommend you do the same.

Which ever bullet you have handy? From a logistics purpose I skip the 150 grain bullets and shoot 165 in 308 and the 06 both shoot this weight accurately so with a 15 grain advantage and shooting great in both calibers it is pretty much all I shoot.

efw is correct. I honestly don't know how many deer I have killed here in KS over my hunting lifetime (easily dozens with all the extra tags) and they are not hard to kill. rifle, muzzleloader, bow doesn't matter. Do your job, you will be fine.

I have had 100% penetration with a shoulder shot at 440 yards using a 165 hornady BTSP at 2510 MV on a 175# buck. I've also shot deer at less than 30 yards with the same projectile and had explosive deformations and lightning fast kills. Not to mention they shoot fantastic and a really in expensive and not overly sensitive to seating depth like the barnes. All in all that means more practice time and less money spent.

I have one .308 WIN rifle, a Savage 99. For some odd reason it sprays 150 grainers, but the plain 165 grain Hornady SP prints to an inch. The problem is Hornady has stopped making them, so now I am going to switch to the 165 SPBT and pray it works.

Maybe they are out and production hasn't brought up yet. That is what happened to their 338cal. 250gr.SP-RP bullets. I got this from Huntington Die Specialties. Hornady Makes Plans to Increase Production Volume- Hornady will temporarily suspending some (152+ HDS) items in order to focus efforts on the most popular and highest demand products. This is not a permanent suspension (possibly items will return in 2014 -HDS).
Nothing like a Remington 700xcr.
