A two stroke engine with a bunch of moving parts and added weight.
Interesting concept, but unless it has a significant improvement in fuel efficiency or can be produced for a lower cost, I don't see it replacing conventional internal combustion engines.

I would have to "way agree"! It will be interesting to see where this goes and exactly what can be done with it.

Looks like they borrowed that design from hydraulic piston pumps .

Looks like they borrowed that design from hydraulic piston pumps . same principle as the wobble-plate variable displacement piston hydraulic pumps used in turbine aircraft for decades. The world's most advanced gas engine today burns fuel. It's called a 'diesel'.

It seems a very interesting design, but I suspect it will go the way of the Wankle engine...

I agree. The gasoline (and diesel) engines are pretty refined and are solidly entrenched. Unless this new engine offers proven benefits (very low production costs, better fuel economy, VERY low emissions, forever durability and reliability, etc.), it will probably not succeed.
Of course, for a low volume application (small aircraft engines, specialty marine applications, etc., it might find a niche.
