Those are great! Especially, like the one of Custer crossing the Dakota Territory!
I guess they really did hang horse thieves.
Thanks!!

Thanks for the pictures.
That picture of Billy the Kid is always interesting in that a lot of people over the years have said that he was left-handed, due to the holstered pistol on his "left side." Except ......
The Kid was right handed. That picture is "flipped." Note the loading gate on the Winchester's right side of the receiver. Winchester didn't make their rifles with the loading gate on the left side of the receiver.
Also note that the Kid's belt buckle is in the position for a right handed man to cinch his belt.
No matter. Still an interesting picture of Billy the Kid.

Thanks for the pictures. Curious, under each picture is a thumbs up or thumbs down, can't figure why so many would give any of those pics a thumbs down. ? Wonder what's going through the minds of those folks?

#10 Shoshone Falls, Idaho The water was much higher back then, before they started drying up the falls for irrigation every summer. high water now days low water. Some years it's even lower than this.

Cool photos, thanks for the link. I like your conteporary shots of the falls RC showing the falls now compared to then.
A general question to all, in pic #38, do those railway tracks (the actual rails) look like they are made of timber?
Cheers, Aussielad.

I think the tracks are wood. I assume it's not a high speed track. It's probably coming out of a mine for ore carts or something. I've never seen anything like it before,

Those were my thoughts too. Figured it would likely be a track for a mining cart. Just wanted to make sure I was on the right track Timber was/is cheaper and more readily available than steel, and if the line isn't taking too much weight, then timber rails make sense.

Curious in the horse thief hanging photo, it looks like one of the mounted men is aiming at the hung man, but one man at the far left has his hands up like the pistol is pointed at him. miles
Look out for number 1, don't step in number 2.
