Mailing it would work, if you don't get caught at it.
I quit fighting the law, I say sell it, and buy in Canada.

Korth group won't warranty a US serial number scope either. Some thing to think about too.

I just sent a burris scope for warranty, and they sent the scope back with no problem, so.... A scope mailed from canada to the usa.... was sent back by burris to canada...no problem.
Can you get the store where you purchased the scope to mail it to you?

As I understand it, A US citizen can take a scoped rifle into Canada to hunt. Both the rifle, and scope must reenter the US after the hunt.

That is a good question. Probably nothing, but a fellow being out a rifle, and scope.
Standing at customs answering hard questions is not my idea of a good time. Sometimes I think they are all sadists. Things can be hard enough when trying to stay on the straight, and narrow.

The only ITAR wording I could find specifically restricts exporting scopes made to military specifications. Sporting scopes were not mentioned, although many US retailers won't ship to Canada.

Some US companies will not ship any firearm sights including shotgun beads to Canada. For clarity this is because of US laws not Canadian.

I wanted to ship a scope to a friend in RSA, and was going to have to get a permit from the commerce department, because is considered "military" regardless of whether it's a 2x for hunting or a real sniper scope. Same thing with any reloading components. A couple of years back I tried to send this same person some 300Savage brass, and it got picked up by customs and I got a visit from Homeland security explaining why I couldn't do that. Meanwhile Customs confiscated the brass, because I wouldn't pay them more than I paid for it, to get it back. However, IF, you threw your scope in your checked luggage, very unlikely anyone would look. I ended up sending the scope to the guy in RSA with another person going over to hunt. No one going to look in your checked luggage, and if they did, seriously doubt the level of personnel doing so would know you couldn't take it along. Shipping it where you'd run into trouble, as if our pkg happened to be picked out of the line (only a small percentage are, but might be unlucky and be that one). I also think IF you are a Canadian who bought it here, it's now YOUR personel property and not subject to any regulations taking it back as yours. There's a guy runs a business called reloadinginternational, who does a lot of international shipping, look him up,, reloadinginternational.com, and give him a call and run the question by him. But thinking about it, once you have bought it here, can't see any problem with taking it back as yours.

I think somebody in the Whitehouse should give the orders to quit treating Canadians like flipping Talibans. That is what I think, it's ridiculous especially considering we are supposed to have a FREE Trade agreement. I am a hunter, not a terrorist.

In 1976 we, 4 adults and about 2 dozen teenage boys drove the church bus from NC to Manitoba for a 2 week fishing trip. Upon returning to the US, the Canadian Border Police and then the US Border Patrol both boarded our bus and interrogated us kids as to if we had brought any fish back from our trip. First of all, that was a stupid question because there were 24 teenage boys on the bus. WE ATE EVERYTHING WE COULD CATCH AND WERE STILL STARVING!!! Secondly, THEY DELAYED OUR RETURN to Milwaukee where we ate at something called a SMORGASBORD by AT LEAST 15 MINUTES OR MORE!! Your minor inconvenience is of little concern considering the these GROSS PAST ABUSES!!!
