This one showed up on GB yesterday. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=460324168I looked at it and pondered for a while, but was turned off by all the extra holes, probable reblue, etc. Not sure what the weird stains in the stock are all about. I think this is the third .300 BB to show up in the last year. Rod

That shop is 60 miles from me and they come up with more model 99s than any other place in the area.

If the bore IS GOOD you couldn't go wrong for the price. It even has a Lyman 1A SA tang sight.

Actually a 2A because the aperture is threaded.
1A has unthreaded flip down aperture.

Based off of the pic with the serial number, not a reblue. I'd have been tempted...
“ The Savage 99 Pocket Reference”. All models and variations of 1895’s, 1899’s and 99’s covered. Also dates, checkering, engraving.. Find at www.savagelevers.com

1A has unthreaded flip down aperture. It's not either, it's a Marble's SA. <-- SA wrong, s/b S1 As to the bluing, look at the SP proof stamp on the barrel, stamped through the blue with the edges raised.

Savage didn't seem to be too concerned about the band covering part of the barrel address. It happens through out the entire production period of the barrel band...some are, some aren't.

Here is a photo comparing a V2-2 30-30 barrel address with a V3-3 300 barrel address that is partially covered by the barrel band. David
