well since you're such a smart [bleep], please elaborate on the secrets of taking SA700 to 2.975. The only way im aware of is with something such as wyatts bottom metal>? easy, i suppose its not hard, spendy for sure. I have personally never seen a 284 that was able to mag feed something such as 168, and not have them intrude into case capacity. at least not in something that isnt highly customized, but then again, i havent seen very many rifles compared to a lot of you guys. Also on your 24" tube'd AI. what powders are you finding best for that kind of speed with a good accuracy node.

A wyatts box is pretty cheap and not that hard to install. the 284 I put together on a SA used the box, factory bottom metal and follower for a 308 and fed fine and was an easy install.

I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...

My question was what do you base your 70,000 psi on fact or your assumption. I also asked what equipment you used to reach your number. ANSWER THE QUESTION. There are no magic powders or barrels. Velocity = Pressure

It's ok your experience is right pressure = velocity. I did not use the load tell the bolt locks and back of a grain that is not a safe method to load any caliber. Gfy is the answer I was looking for you data is opinion at best so it's void. In my experience it's the shoulder angle change and 4.5% more space that makes the 7-08AI a touch faster than the 7-08. My go to load for the 140grn accubond is 43 grns of varget 2.830" I have also used h 4350 at 52 grs and RL 19 at 51 grns. The hotter loads I used some brass we made for 308 win that had lots of internal space and a very hard web it was a run for the DOD really good stuff.

My experience is with a Oehler 43 PBL for load development. Just because there are no pressure signs does not mean that you are not over pressured. Hodgdon listed pressures are pretty close IME. If your velocities are higher than their listed velocities for that bbl length and bullet then you are over pressured. Different bullets of the same weight also have different pressure characteristics. A faster twist bbl will also have higher pressures than a slower twist in most cases. My response was to the 70K PSI reference and listed veloctiies.

My previous barrel was a 22" Broughton. I shot 48.0 in it at 2750. Verified by Ohler 35 and actual come ups. Heck, I managed a couple top 15 finishes in PRS matches with it.
When it came time for rebarrel (4500 rounds), I wanted to get 2800 or better. Plumbed up this Rock 5R at 26" and it hasn't disappointed. Verified by Magneto Speed and actual come ups.

So my data is opinion, but yours is fact. Got it. To make it clear you have no data or reference just opinion. That's been my point.
