I'm looking at a rifle just down the road from me which has fair bluing, good wood with what appears to be original oil finish and original butt plate. The only modification I can see (with my very untrained eye) is sling studs. What is a ball park value for such a rifle?

$500-550. If it has the original rear sight more by $100 or so.

Thanks Roy. Just when I am lined up to make a trade with a guy down in Oregon for a .375, a neighbor pops up with this rifle and wants to trade also! Both are in good shape, but I already have a .300 and I'm already accumulating .375 Win ammo and dies. What's a guy to do? Wish i could get both, but not possible.

Sounds like you're leaning toward the 375. Tell your neighbor with the T you "have some friends who might be interested".

That's a pretty decent T. I'd say $750. If you must go for the .375 now, try to find a way to grab the T in the near future.

When FB said $500/550 I was going to ask him what he was smoking. I figured it wasn't worth it, contemplating the impending firestorm of comments. Rod, your approach was much more diplomatic..................That decision SHOULD be a no brainer.

The difference of course is buying and selling. You add value to any commodity the day you get it bought right.

You could very well be right on value. I am not buying right now so would give you that. I will defer to Stever as I certainly would trust his judgement. He has proven to be a savvy collector and a good friend to me. The photo shows a nicer T than I imagined.

As for the rest of your comments, sometimes I wonder what your problem is. I've always tried to respect you as a person, collector, and elder.

Thanks gentlemen for your input. I'll probably stay in the .375 deal, as I hate to renege on a deal, but will test the waters for a cash sale on the T.

Don't get distracted by the 'squirrel'

Do buy the T though if you can get a good price on it. Pay attention to whether the sights are original or not though.

Purchase the one that can be had with cash. After confirming the T has correct sights. Make the trade on the other. Both guns are difficult to find at reasonable prices and should not be passed on. Raise the cash by culling other things as it will be a long time before you may have the same opportunities again. If above fails PM me. GW

If a guy restricts himself to only buying 99T's that have correct sights, he ain't gonna find many 99T's he's willing to buy.

True, and I'd certainly recommend buying the gun no matter what sights are on it, but the sights that are on the gun in question could / should have a significant impact on the price offered.

THAT IS VERY TRUE STATEMENT!

THUS WE FORGET
NOT ALL T's That ORIGINALLY CAME OUT HAD THE RED-BEAD FRONT SIGHT,
EVEN THOUGH ADVERTISED. THE SIGHTS WERE SENT LATER, as TOLD to Me
and Posted Some time ago By FUG, and I was also Told By some Oldtimers that Had the Rifles That Were Bought By there Dad and GIVEN to THEM,
The More I seen, came out after the 1st 6 Months to year after production, and again a Lot Of Was Changed out, for what ever reason.

I said the Gun Based On 1 Photo 700 to 850.00 and Condition
add more If Has READ BEAD and White Line SIGHT.

THE REAR WHITE LINE SIGHTS, if can be Had/Found, They Sell for Good Dollars, seen them go for 100.00 on up.

THE T Shown looked to Be In Very Nice Shape, and How-Many do you see come around? Not Many.

BESIDES GRABBING THE "T" Because
It's Much Cheaper to Shoot 300 Savage than the 375 Win! grin

I'd buy the T.

800 wouldn't be too much if it ain't drilled full of holes or broke.

Specially if it had the semi-buckhorn with the white line. wink
