Duke University's (originally Trinity College - a Christian school) biggest donor is dead - they are primarily funded by the assets of the original American Tobacco Co - kind of ironic in itself. Many folks around here (not the Duke fans) consider them the University of New Jersey, South Campus.

case in point, the local state university here in the Rogue Valley, Southern Oregon University....

of their annual budget to recruit new prospective students...
60-% of that money is spent in Saudi Arabia...they want that big buck out of state tuition money...

it was several years ago, that someone posted St Cloud State University in Minnesota, was putting in foot baths to satisfy the Muslim students on campus...

yet, they frown on Christmas Music or anything to do with Christianity...

Duke lost me as a supporter when the gang of 88 professors and other faculty decided to take a full page add in the local rag to crucify the lacrosse team.

With their current endowment fund topping 7 billion they are financially stable and probably can weather any short comings from local supporters.

And as previously posted the Methodist church which founded Duke U has been subverted by gays and ultra libs to the point that they no longer recognize Mother's Day or veterans Day in their sermons. Pissed my sandal wearing pastor off when I stood and thanked all vets past and present on Veteran's Day.

I can see that liberal cesspool becoming a recruiting ground for terrorism. Durham is already a sanctuary city with a corrupt police force. I doubt this is the last we will hear of this.

Evidently you don't know much about the Methodist Church. They are the most liberal of all the Protestant sects, and are fine with issues such as abortion, ecumenical councils, watered down Christianity and liberation theology.
That a Methodist owned university is in bed with their muslim brothers is to be expected.

I am not surprised at all. Duke is a far left Liberal conclave of the first order. Most of the faculty members are crazy as schitthouse rats.

Been a lifelong Duke fan. I am done with them.

Didn't used to be this way at Duke or the majority of the nation's other universities. The Methodist Church wasn't always liberal either.

I also went NC State (undergrad); none of my sons went to State or Duke. I was agnostic when they played Sunday.
