'Dunno what what else one would have EXPECTED,....and it's not as though the producers are in Daddy Warbucks mode, either.

I sure won't be surprised to see it go higher.

It's not about what hamburger is worth. It is about what your DOLLAR is worth.

Contractor I use at work has several hundred momma cows. He sold 200 calves last week. One 386 lb steer sold for $1586. $4.11/ lb. his 7 weights were $2.30/lb. down a bit, but still crazy high.

i make venison Hamburg and haven't bought hamburger for a couple three years.

It's more than doubled since them - makes shooting deer for burger a great thing

Best part about it - a yearling doe in KS yields about 50lbs of hamburger meat = 300 bucks..

that'll pay for some gas.

Same here. We like venison and tomorrow will be the first time I have ate hamburger in well over a year....maybe twice since July 2012. The only reason I'm eating one tomorrow is because I know the meat at Cancer Center Tx of America [where I'm at] doesn't have steroids or hormones in it.

I just bought a quarter beef at $2.40/lb and $125 worth of processing. That nets me the steaks, roasts, and burger for around $3/lb. Should have bought a half, but have a lot of game to eat up too. And if you think producers aren't laughing all the way to the bank, you aren't around many of them. And good for them! Just don't try to BS anyone into thinking these prices aren't a windfall. Bred heifers are selling for $2500-3000, life is good right now for cattle producers!

Now thats a novel idea and would solve us posting about the price of anything. We could save a lot of time and bandwidth, too.
