Wow, that's some shooting.

Great shooting.

I'd be curious to know your MV, altitude, and
temperature.

That 230 Berger looks like an awesome LR bullet, I need to try it in the 30-06 one of these days.

Yeah, the conditions couldn't have been much better. Really just went out to confirm some long range drops on 2 hunting rifles out to as far as the scopes would travel.

Brought the target rifle along to go long. 20.4 mils of up to that plate from the 100 yard zero.

Velocity is 2750 fps with 70 grains of H-1000.

The atmosphere particulars were 24.45 inHG absolute, 48% RH, 45 degrees

Took the hunting rifles out to 1300 yards. They shot well. Here's the .264 Winchester Magnum with the 139 Scenar at 1150 yards. You'll see a nice little group already on the plate shot with the .300 Hunting rifle and the 208 A-Max right under the dot.

Velocity is an unreal 3340 to 3390. At 1000 yards with a 100 yard zero, I can use the reticle to hold for elevation. 5 mils with the TMR. 3390 works to 1000.

Seems like there's something going on with BC past 1000 as 3340 worked in Ballistic AE at 1300.

Thanks but I can't take any credit for any of it. You see, the Leupold scopes have a counteracting affect on my lack of skill

If you don't, you should get somewhere you can. It's about as much fun as you can have with your clothes still on!!

rcamuglia,

The most fun I ever had shooting was at rocks of unknown sizes across a canyon at unknown distances with a .30-06 sighted in for 200 yards. That was thirty years ago. I took a young guy with me who had a great time.

The next week we brought my 7-.300 Wea with a 28" barrel firing Nosler 150 Ballistic Tips at 3,525 feet per second sighted for 400 yards. We picked a rock and shot at it. The dust flew off the rock. Another shot and the same thing. We put the wildcat back in the truck and brought out .30-06. Way more opportunity for misses so we had to do a better job of guessing.

I'm sure it was fun, but you should get a range finder. It's more fun

That was thirty years ago. I've been using a Leica 1200 for years now. Back then I used the space between the top and bottom thick crosshair for ranging. If an elk fit it was 500 yards away. I used the top of the bottom crosshair as a 500 yard sight. The only scope I used after a fix 4X fiasco was a Burris Fullfield 4-12X. In the last several years I moved up in magnification power.

By March 1 I should get to play with the new 6.5RUMLN which will have a Leupold VX-6 4-24X52. Ben at Hornady named this new wildcat. have some Matrix 140's or 142's on the way. I don't remember what I ordered. There are some Scenar 123's and some G.S.Custom 106HV I might try, but I may keep them for the new 6.5SLR.

Since I'm a wanna be shooter I would limit myself to about 600 yards.

Put your target in the bottom of the video so the trace can be seen next time out!

That and the fact that the spotter set up wasn't directly behind me when I was shooting. I was using the window mount on the truck which was off to the side

Here's my hunting rifle in .300 Winchester with the 208 at 1300 yards. It's a good example of what shooting a group during increasing wind speed looks like.

Held .5 MILS on the first round. Hit was on the plate left.

Held .75 Mils the second round. Miss even further left because of the major increase in wind

Held a full Mil on the last round. I thought it was a center hit, but the nice thing about the video is that you can see the impact just on the left edge below the first impact.

Nice, you can watch the marage running right to left, flatten out as the wind picks up.

Very enjoyable reading at least for me.
I think you will find the 6.5 will be (almost)as good as your
7x300 wby. Which is why i sold my hot rod 6.5.
Its also nice seeing Leoupold getting some credit rather than heat.
