How is the accuracy on the new hawkeye I have heard that ruger's aren't the most accurate but as long as I get 1-1.5 inches groups at 100 yards I'm happy I previously owned a x bolt great accuracy but I prefer the CRF ruger has.

I have the Ruger M77 Hawkeye 375 Ruger Guide Gun with the 20" barrel and it is real accurate. Getting 3/4" to 1" groups at 100yds. if I do my part.
Nothing like a Remington 700xcr.

I've never had a Ruger of any lineage that did not shoot better than 1.5 inches. The Hawkeyes are a great rifle.

Mule Deer quote: "I've owned a pile of 77's of all eras. While one barrel truly sucked (a 7x57 with a bore that had numerous loose spots, with the tight spots mearsuring .287"), all the others shot anywhere from acceptably to very well. My acceptable rating is three shots in an inch for big game rifles, and five shots in an inch for varmint rifles, and very well is half that. Most of them required some work on the bedding and the trigger, but then a lot of factory rifles do."
Boxer - Big Stick quote: "I've Ruger familiarity and accept them for what they are. Light or bullet proof they are not, though curiously enough they are oft maligned by the masses for "accuracy" woe which I've yet to see, though of course I shoot a bit, which tend to tip numerous scales."

I have a .308 and a .257 Ruger Hawkeye. They will both meet or exceed < 1.5" @ 100 yards, with factory ammunition.
Both triggers have been worked.

I just glass bed mine and they shot lights out..
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Mine are also accurate but I haven't found the need yet to bed them - just make sure the action screws are properly tightened. I also free-float the barrels.

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.
A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

Browsing one of the ruger boards, I realized my 30-06 had an issue with the mag well binding between the bottom metal/receiver when the screws were torqued. The tip recommended a little file work on the mag box to relieve the stress-a loose mag box under torgue was essential to the rifle's accuracy. Now my Hawkeye shoots well within the standard that xbolt has set. I've done nothing else to the rifle and don't plan to. I have gotten sub MOA results at the bench on my good days. This thing is a whole lot more accurate than me.

Had/have several, from MK11's to current Hawkeyes. All shoot <1.5" as is, right out of the box.
I won't drink the swirled Kool-Aid .....well, maybe, if it looks like wood

I have never owned any of the Model 77's that wouldn't shoot to the OPs specifications. But, most all of them needed a little work. I am about to buy another Hawkeye in stainless since they are discontinued; I just haven't decided what chambering for sure........223 or 308. I don't really need either, but that's not the point.

My Hawkeye African .375 wears a McMillan magnum fill stock, not bedded. It shoots sub-MOA with Barnes TSX 270 gr. and TTSX 250 gr.

First group, first batch of handloads out of M77 Hawkeye .358win. 100yds. Found the 200gr Hornady spire points to print the similar size groups just a touch higher point of impact. Load development was pretty easy for this rifle!

I got a LH Hawkeye in 7mm-08 this year. I'm old fashion so I believe in shooting in the bbl. after 14 shots shooting and cleaning the bbl after each shot I went for a group of five. I am a horrible bench shot but I even surprised myself. If I hadn't thrown the second shot 3/8 of an inch they would of all been touching for a half inch 5 shot group. Open it up to 3/4 inch using Hornaday Whitetail's. Tried a couple of Barnes 120 and they were in the same hole.

I have 4 of the newer Hawkeyes, all SS versions with the OEM stock. I've done zero to them as far as the stock. I have worked the trigger, smoothed up the action in 1-2 but other than that they are stock out-of-the-box rifles. All 4 are capable of 1 MOA with my handloads.
