Has anyone tried to warranty an older Taurus revolver? I inherited one with a cracked frame real close to the firing pin. I've shot it for the last time. I think it happened last October when I shot it about 3 times and put it away. Thanks Marty

Seems to me from talking to management and some of the engineers with Taurus, they are like a lot of other gun companies, trying to put out a good product, not always being successful, trying to be innovative, but sometimes going a little too far, but willing to make the product you bought good or replace it. I can't think of any gun manufacturer that doesn't have issues from time to time. Give them a call, I don't have a doubt they will take care of it.

About 10 years ago they fixed my Tracker for free and even paid the NEXT DAY AIR shipping cost.

It was a timing problem in S A mode.......... now it's back.

They sent me a free part for my .22 revolver about ten years ago.
The transfer bar that the hammer hits to engage the firing pin broke at the thin section.

I'm sure they will take care of it. Just had one replaced myself. When they send you the form letter stating they have received your weapon and the process will take six weeks, expect that it will take more like 13 weeks and probably a good deal longer if you don't call about the 10 week mark to find out if they just forgot you. "Customer service" isn't what it used to be apparently.

When I ran the gun store we sold a lot of tauruses and told every customer they came with a lifetime warranty and you'll provably use it at some time. Never had a warranty problem with them but they certainly took back more than any other manufacturer.

I never owned a Taurus that I did not have a problem with. That said, they did fix the one I sent back to them. Who needs the problems?

Over 20+ years in the gun biz, I've sent back a number of OLD Taurus revolvers for customers, including some of the ones from the early '70s with the horizontal lines within the cylinder flutes. Parts are typically not available for them and in years past, they replaced them with brand new comparable models. It's been several years since we sent one of those in but on the last one, they offered a new replacement at something like $200. When the customer declined and requested they just send the old gun back, they broke down and sent a new one free because they did not want the old defective one floating around out there. That's pretty damn good considering the company has changed hands many times since the old guns were built! Whether they would still offer such a gesture, I don't know because they are under new management yet again....

Thanks for the responses. It seems well worth it to contact them. My stepdad owned it, and I doubt it has been shot 15 times in the last 10 years. Before that, I couldn't say. Marty

They'll replace the frame. That being said, they may have to send it to an FFL to be transferred to you since it will probably have a new serial number. Call them and see.
