On another thread someone ask about a 300 h&h on a savage action, if you want a real one you will need a 116 action, I looked for one for a while and gave up.

So I built one on a 110 action, boyds stock, shaw fluted Bbl.



The catch is it is a 2fer, one in the mag and one in the chamber, it would be a major conversion on the mag well to make it hold more.

After some deep thought I realized that I could only use one deer a year and two years worth of ammo was enough.

It was easy to load for and fun to shoot, ended up with two loads to cover all my needs



Now all the fun is out of that one so I just ordered a new barrel with the same dementions in (gasp) 270 winchester, it never ends.

I have been thinking of doing a rebarrel on a older savage action they are fairly easy to come by around here in the shops. I keep dreaming of a something with some punch. 416 chatfield-taylor. or 416-338 win. Not that the deer and pigs here need that kind of punch. It would kick the crap out of me on a lightish savage build. The 300 h&h sounds like a truly usable cartridge, but who wants that. Too bad i spent all my play money for a few months on a 300blk upper. I have a nicely done mauser vz24 action begging for a 6.5 barrel of some cartridge. So the savage build needs to wait.
