Yesterday, at a pawn shop, I saw a box of Barnes loaded ammunition. It was 30-06 165 gr .032 spitzer. Like a dummy I didn't look at the headstamp but I have used quite a few Barnes originals and that is exactly what they appeared to be. The box was $29.95+ tax so I didn't get carried away. The box was black slip top w/the labels in the classic red-orange color and black printing, exactly like the bullet boxes. Anybody else ever run across loaded ammo? I have been loading since the early 60's and this is the first I ever heard of.- Muddy
I have used Barnes VORTEX loaded ammo. shot great out of a Remington 7600 rifle I just recently sold(1 inch groups ) 3 shot at a hundred. If they are VORTEX ammo it is good stuff
Barnes Vor-tx is carried by Cabelas and MidwayUSA in quite a few standard calibers. I've never shot it but it looks interesting since it's loaded with their bullets.
No, This is quite old ammunition, guess from the late 60's early 70's. It is loaded w/Barnes Original Copper tubing jacketed bullets w/exposed lead spitzer soft nose. Not anything that was made after the bare "X" bullet was introduced.- Muddy

When I lived in Alaska in the 80's I saw that ammo in a few stores. It is the original Barnes lead core bullet in a .032 copper jacket.
I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first
