I'm from there and my wife just flew in there yesterday for a week to visit her mom having surgery...it's a madhouse! They sent her mom home from the hospital because they are boarding it up....very caotic!

Well she hadn't turned right yet last time I checked so she may just head for the Bolivar pennisula. I am far enough inland so won't get nothing but rain. I can feel it now though. Wind from the east, warm, muggy. Saw a bunch of roseate spoon bills late this evening and a couple of pellicans with them which is highly unusual here so the wild life is leaving. They know something.
If there is a lot of rain in Houston I might get knocked off the net. All my servers trunk lines go through there and Allison knocked them down for four days with all the water.

I heard on the radio this afternoon that the storm surge is supposed to be a doozy on this one 10-15' and would go inland 25 miles!!

that sounds serious to me!

We occasionally get ont that is still a huricane when it reaches us, but usually they are strong tropical depressions this far from the coast. The tornadoes out front of them are usually the biggest problem.

I'm hoping it will fizzle out some and just bring y'all some rain..

If it has to come, I hope it comes right up the Red River. It is too late for my grass, but I could use the water for my duck sloughs.

Here's a good NOAA site that updates fairly often, I think in 15 minute intervals!

Its coming pretty damn close to us but we're riding it out. We're far enough (60 miles) from the coast that we're not in danger but 100 mph winds can do some damage. Just left the grocery store where it was a madhouse. Had two guys in the parking lot filling up the bed of a truck with beer. Must of bought at least 20 cases.:D
I've got the barbeque pit moved into the garage and I took down the LSU flag. As long as a tree doesn't come through my roof, I'll be all right. Got a few pessimistic neighbors though. Two of them already have sandbags around the houses.

Y'all sound dissipointed. We didn't get any damage, just a LOT of wind and some rain. The storm dropped off quick after it hit land. Lost power for about 3 hours this afternoon. People around Lafeyette got hit pretty hard.

Somebody got some damage, coming back from Mineola today I met 22 bucket trucks and 1/2 tons headed East. Must be a lot of telephone poles down along with trees. -- no
