Here's a long shot question.... Picked up a beautiful Stevens 44 1/2 that was rebuilt and rebarreled by CPA. It has a 10X Unertl with a 7/8" tube mounted with 'dehorned' rings. The scope and rings work great, but I'd like to find a micrometer rear ring for it that will allow repeatable adjustments for different ranges. Does anyone out there have any ideas where I can find one that doesn't require a second mortgage?

Define "second mortage". Someone was producing new Unertl type mounts to support the Leatherwood/Malcolm scopes but they are not real low cost either. Name escapes me at the moment but they are very nice quality.

IIRC those rings are about $130. I priced a set last year for a Leatherwood scope and they were not prohibitively expensive. There were 2 types of rear rings -one a little more precise than the other

In times of extreme desperation, there is always the "Garry Fellers" option. If you choose to buy from GF, don't forget that one of the terms of sale is this; "allow up to six weeks for shipment". www.garyfellers.com or 817-346-9633. For a more friendly option, try Ballentine's Scopes Unlimited in Onega, KS, at 785-889-4859. I think that Ralph and Jackie are still in business, but have not bought anything from them in some time.

I have my Unertl mounted in a set of DZs. Paul
