I want to put a basic Nikon Prostaff 4x32 scope on my 30 year old Ruger 10/22 for some improved squirrel and rabbit control. I'm assuming the factory supplied base will be fine for my needs. I was going to use Burris rings but I'm not familiar with their terminology.

Do I want Burris Zee Rings Low or Burris Signature Zee Rings Medium (no lows?) for twice the price?

thanks

I use Burris Zee Signature rings so the scopes do not get marred. the Signature rings have the plastic inserts.

I have been using the Burris 30mm Zee rings for about 9 months. Wasn't sure I was going to like the plastic inserts, but so far I haven't had any problem. One benefit is that you don't have to lap the scope rings with these.

That clears up the difference. Thanks

Now are the offset alignment inserts, which I guess are ordered separately, something different from the plastic inserts?
Are the alignment inserts always needed?

You will need to get a Weaver TO9 base for the 10-22, for the rings to attach.

I have a set of Medium Zee rings on my 10/22 and wish I had ordered lows. That's with a nikon pro staff 4-12x40.

I lap all my scope rings so I didn't opt for the signature jobs.

When I bought them, all the inserts needed came with it. A regular set, and another offset pair. I never had to use those, the regular ones worked fine. Directions came for using either set and were easy to understand, and follow.
