Anyone load hodgdon HP-38 in 9mm, 40 or 45 ACP?

I have found some locally but I have never loaded it. Is it worth buying five to ten pounds of?

Looking at load data it looks ok to load in all three cartridges. With powder in short supply I kinda hate to pass it up. I think I would rather have Tite group but I can't find any.

Same as WW-231.

I load it in 9mm, 9x23, 38 Super, 10mm, and 45's.

For me, this is THE pistol powder. HP38, with W231, is incredibly versatile.

Rule #1 with Pistol powders now days. You see it -- buy it.

Great powder for target/plinking loads in the cartridges you mentioned. 10lbs is a lot of HP-38.

one of the beauties of Hp38 or 231 is that 56000 grains of powder in a 8lb. jug. And a lot of your pistol loads take less than five grains of powder per round. Thats over 11000 rounds per jug.

Yep, that will take a fellow through the summer of this year at least for your National Match Guns. Maybe.

Like most powders, it prefers a certain pressure range to stay clean. I only mention this because lately on some other threads that seams to be a very important characteristic.

It is my go to powder for .38spec. But it is almost perfect for .45ACP.
