For the record, I have all my teeth, save that on wisdom tooth, still working. They are a lot shorter than they used to be, mind you.
Call it a social experiment.
I wondered how much controversy a mild, simple, food such a tapioca could cause. Silly me.

I remember as a kid hearing about a freighter with a load of tapioca that caught fire and in fighting the fire the tapioca got wet and expanded cargo burst forth from the hold and flowed over the side into the water. Thought that was pretty much a best-case scenario for tapioca.

In for a penny, in for a pound.

Tapioca pudding is a favorite of mine. This old recipe of mine, will knock your socks off. I sold thousands of portions back in my restaurant days. Tapioca Pudding, with chocolate and coconut
In a saucepan, place 3 tablespoons tapioca 1/2 cup sugar
In three cups of milk, add one egg, and beat together
Add this to the dry ingredients, and stir well. Let sit for 5 or more minutes, stirring a couple of times.
On medium heat, bring to a rapid boil. Stir often
Chop, and add in, 4 squares Baker's unsweetened chocolate. Mix well until it disolves.
Add in 1/2 cup Baker's coconut, and mix in well.
Remove from the heat. Stir in 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract.
Cool in pan for 15 min. Transfer to a glass bowl, or into individual ramekins. Place plastic wrap on top, pressed against the pudding, to prevent a 'skin' from forming.
Chill, and serve.

as for bread pudding, this was my restaurant recipe One loaf of French bread, or about 8 hoagie rolls, torn into pieces One quart whole milk 2 cups sugar 3 eggs 2 tbls vanilla 3 tbls butter One half cup raisins, or more if you like Walnuts if you like
Melt butter in pan. Put bread into butter, pour on the milk, mix and let the bread absorb the milk.
Mix other ingredients in a separate container. add to bread and milk.
Mix well; bake at 375 for about an hour.
Whiskey sauce
Melt one stick of butter and one cup of sugar together. Mix well; rapidly whisk in one beaten egg. Add 2 tbls (or 3) bourbon. Stir and reduce until it is smooth and not grainy. Cool, and spoon over bread pudding

Glad there is consensus then. Tapioca, rice, and bread puddings are best left to nursing home residents, infants, Englishmen with bad teeth, and the incarcerated.

Now, I like rice pudding, but it has to be baked in the oven, and have nutmeg in it, and a vanilla bean, but not cinnamon, though a few pods of cardamom and a small amount of lemon zest works too. Served hot with a dash of cream, or cold with a dash of cream, always with cream. NO RAISINS ! I agree with almost everything you posted, but good lord woman.. no cinnamon?! Please tell me that you use lots of cinnamon in an apple pie at least! I am assuming that as a Canuck with discriminating tastes, you will be completing that apple pie with a slice of cheddar! John
