What are your thoughts on this scope. For those of you, who have used these scopes (VX-6) what are your thoughts. Does it function fine ? Thanks

I've had one in 3-18x44 on a 300wm for about a year I guess. Took it on an elk hunting trip in Colorado last October. While on a horse on a rocky mountain trail, the rifle fell out of the scabbard landing pretty hard on some rocks, scratching the scope and rifle some. Came up empty handed on that trip, but hammered a whitetail and feral hog soon after returning home. Held zero as it should.
Glass is pretty good and I like the low weight for its magnification range as compared to others.

I've got one. My first impression is it is the brightest, clearest I've owned in a rifle scope. Clearer than Nightforce and as good as Swaro to my eyes. And it looks like a scope should on a rifle-- not like it was designed in Europe or by a company that is more concerned with tactical requirements than hunting requirements.
I really haven't had time to wring it out. Only did some load development for a 300WM project I'm putting together. Looking forward to stretching it out to test the repeatability of the turrets. I just ordered my custom dials from Leupold last Friday.

They come with a MOA turret ? And, does it have a zero stop.
The custom turret has a zero stop ?
I'm looking at new scopes for a rifle I'm building.
I don't think I would like a 2# scope on one of my hunting rifles.
Just trying to make the right choice the first time.

Just trying to make the right choice the first time. I've used mine two seasons now on a 300 wsm and haven't had any troubles with zero or return to it. They come with a CDS dial certificate, which you can use for an MOA dial. That is what I have. It has 20 MOA per turn and yes they can be equipped with zero stop if requested. My experiences may be limited in using many high end/expensive rifle scopes, other than NF, but I feel like it is a fine choice for a hunting scope. As mentioned earlier the glass on it is excellent to my eyes and the overall look it gives to a rifle is appealing.

Gledeasy, thanks for your input. I think, I need to put some of these high dollar scopes in my hands to help me make this decision.
That Leupold VX-6 looks nice on your rifle.

For those of you, who have used these scopes (VX-6) what are your thoughts. Does it function fine ? I bought one, but never mounted it. I thought the clicks were too mushy. I wanted true target knobs, not CDS, but they had not, nor had any intention, at that time, to offer target knobs. The current M1's and covered target knobs don't fit VX-6's. So here was a perfect LR scope, in regards to power, glass, and weight, but did not even consider designing target knob options with this new model. Piss poor planning......I sold it.....

I'll agree the adjustments on the VX6 are a tad on the mushy side, but mine have tracked perfectly for a couple of years now with a custom CDS dial. I don't consider it a true long range scope (the 2-12 that is), but it is a heckuva fine hunting scope. It has the most user friendly eye box know to mankind, especially at higher mags.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

I recently bought a VX-6 1x6 illuminated that will go brown bear hunting this spring on either a .375/338 or a .458 Win Mag. Had it out a few times working on loads and so far I'm very happy. Nice and clear and unlike the VX III scopes, I can adjust the eyepiece so that I get a nice clear picture and reticle without wearing my glasses. It's a bit heavier than I like, but those two calibers can use the extra weight.

I agree with JG. The glass is first rate, to me as good as most Alpha Euros. And I have several, enough to compare. The VX-6 ER and eyebox are great, about the best out there. I have two, an illuminated 1-6, #4 and a 2-12x40 duplex. The #4 reticle in the 1-6 is great up to around 300 yds, then it's too thick for fine work. The bottom gun is fitted with a 3-9x40 Conquest, also in QD rings, for target work. DF

Thanks I'm not a good guy to ask about NF scopes for big game hunting, as I'm not a big fan. I'm not a diehard turret twister though, and If I did twist the crap out of turrets often, I'd likely pick a NF.

Yeah, hunters don't twist'em like LR target shooters.
I don't use the turret that often, but like to have it set up just in case.

I'm not a long range hunter, as I enjoy getting close to game.
I was thinking about a scope with turrets for some fun shooting at target afar.
Not really wanting a scope at 32oz. About 20-22 oz max.
Thanks

Check on line for specs; the VX-6 series isn't that heavy. The 3-18 with parallax adjustment is heavier, but not that bad.

My 2-12 is on my non typical 260 and it suits me very well. One of my favorite rifle/scope packages.

I had the 3x18x44 in my hands at Cabelas, I thought the glass was really clear and the scope didn't feel very heavy for it's size. I'm looking at putting one on a Sako Tecomate in 300 WSM. Good luck.
