I'm looking at a 16" enhanced light weight upper. The plan is typical target shooting and some hunting. What type of accuracy (with a 6X) scope should I expect from this type of platform? I'm not heavy in the AR scene and have a 16" heavy barrel now. It's just too heavy to tote around like I'd prefer but I'm stuck between the standard weight and the light weight. Good question I think you want the BFH barrel model it will be more accurate. That is what I am getting.
Don't know how much weight savings the pencil barrel is going to give you, they are harder to shoot off hand. I cannot imagine you would save more than 5-6 ounces but I am guessing.

I've been looking but they all seem to be out of stock on their site. Where did you find it?

The last one I bought from them was a solid 4 MOA rifle. Their only help was to say keep shooting it and hopefully it'll get better.

I have that upper with the standard weight barrel and while I haven't tailored a load to it, it will shoot match ammo and my hand loads into a 2" group. BCM makes good stuff, just don't expect them to run for the phone when it rings.
If I were to buy today, I'd get another 16" CHF lightweight, midlength.

Expect around 1.5 MOA for 10 round groups with 77gr Match ammo.

I've saved more weight than that slimming down just an 11" heavy barrel; a 16" could lose a good bit more. There's a lot of steel in an AR heavy barrel.

What would you guys suggest for MOA type accuracy from an "off the shelf" type upper outside of the bull barrel type? Like I said I'm new to this, but 4 MOA isn't going to cut it.
My current rifle, while heavy, holds .5"-.75" groups easily with BH Blue box 60gr VMax.

Noveske rogue hunter, I think it will do better than 1.5 inches but it's a stainless barrel.

Not sure why? Have yet to see any type of chrome lined barrels do better than between 1.2-1.7 MOA for ten rounds consistently with 77gr factory ammo. There are of course the odd ones here and there that do, but on the whole around 1.5 MOA for ten is the average.
Of course if one just shoots 3 rounds and ignores any that don't look right- they'll all shoot sub MOA.

General rule is accuracy = a good barrel & bolt = $$$$.
Sometimes a blind pig finds an acorn & a cheap barrel shoots very well, but the odds are against it.

How heavy is it? I have an 16" SPR profile that weighed 8.8 lbs with scope/mount. Switched from a 30mm scope to a 1" tube and went to a Battlelink Minimalist stock and now it's 8 lbs even which is what I'm used too with bolt actions.

Bare rifle weighs probably 8.5 pounds. Add mount, scope, ammo, and sling and it's over 10.

Yep, that is heavy for a hunting rifle.

Been looking at an R25 in 7-08 also, but I just don't know if it would be any better.

AR10 guns are considerably heavier and bulkier compared to AR15's.
Define "target shooting" because when I hear that I think of competition or serious group shooting as opposed to general shooting and hunting. If its the latter that BCM upper would be a solid choice and is very lightweight.

I generally shoot 5, many times under a MOA, with hand loads in a DD barrel. How much better is their BHF barrel? This I was told was better accuracy wise however do not know by how much. For a general purpose gun which could hunt and shoot for fun I was thinking the BCM BHF 14.5 mid length with their KMR keymod 13 inch forearm. Have not ordered yet. The LW is now a consideration thanks to this conversation, but my conversation with myself needs to be defined regards what I intend to use it for. A 16 inch barreled rogue hunter is a LW accuracy choice, if the BCM LW BHF barrel is better by a bit than their std barrel then maybe that's the best choice for a general purpose gun, for me at least.
