I've never cared for the Vortex riflescopes. Having said that, I do have a Diamondback II HD on a .22lr (has worked very well for squirrels and rabbits) and have another in route we're going to put on my daughters Ruger American .223 Rem.

Precisely where I am with them...they have some great Bino's and Spotters...I think they try too many "bells and whistles" on their rifle scopes while still trying to keep MSRP down. There is a break over of when attributes have to be skimped on to keep the street price low...they are teeter-tottering this line all too often with the riflescopes I've had and been around.

The only exception, I feel, is the Razor line. I think I may try one of the. Oit next, but the past failures has left a very bitter taste on my pallet.

There's usually something better than Vortex makes, in the same price range, to keep me from seriously considering Vortex, especially the rifle scopes.

You mean something better than Vortex imports, they don't make anything. They only import stuff they have made by other companies.

This is true but unfortunately not unique. I think many would be surprised to know the number of optics with major brands on them (domestic and international) that are sourced. This often comes up as an argument to the negative but I would rather these overseas factories with true expertise in optics production produce my scopes than a domestic manufacturer that know how to market but not manufacturer...

I'm not convinced of this. I can't think of any other similar price point scopes I would stick on my rifle- at least not feature for feature.

Every Leupold scope is made in USA. Their price is not higher than the cheap imports from Vortex. Considering the repair cost, it is much better to deal with Leupold.

Really? A vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 is $450, a Leupold VX-3 6.5-20x40 is $800, both are side focus scopes.

I assume you mean return shipping costs when you say repair costs, as both Leupold and Vortex have lifetime free warranty repair policies.

I have sent 1 leupold scope in for problems, which they fixed, I have yet to send any of my 9 vortex scopes in for repairs. I do have 12 Leupold scopes.

I do not use dials once the scope is adjusted for zero. I believe that is the major complaint on Vortex scopes.

That's an interesting "fact" I wonder why Leupold doesn't advertise this? Maybe because it isn't true?
