I want to thank all the Campfire members for their kind words, thoughts and prayers. I never knew how serious COPD was until now. My Dad used to smoke, but he quit over 20 years ago. About a year and a half ago he developed pneumonia and that started a series of related illnesses, all lung related, and toward the end was in pain all over and gasping for air due to the effects of COPD. I'm still in shock, not because he died so much, but just the idea that he is no longer with us if that makes any sense. I'm still in shock, not because he died so much, but just the idea that he is no longer with us if that makes any sense. Makes perfect sense. When ya' suffer a significant loss like that...especially early on...there's not much that can bring ya' comfort. You just want your loved one back.

Still in shock as my father passed away last night after a long battle with COPD and some other heart related illnesses. My father was a retired USMC WWII veteran and a Chief of Police for 33 of his 44 years of police service. My family could use some kind thoughts and prayers if possible.
