Scope came in yesterday... Still debating if I'll order a dial matched to a particular bullet or just get a generic 'cleaned-up' dial with zero stop. Leaning towards the latter. For those that want a zero-stop on the factory dial.....here's a mod you can do.... zero-stop how to

Is there an extra charge for the zero stop dial? Is the only advantage of a load specific dial the fact you don't need to know MOA numbers?

Think a clean up dial is a dial with no markings, you make you own marks on it. You get a card for a free dial either one made up for your load or a zero stop dial. I know they will send you a unmarked dial if thats whatbyou want to use your card for.

Today the Leupold rep did not even ask for the scope serial number, which seemed a little odd. My name and address was already in their system from a past accessory order. He asked for the model of the scope, and if it was a VX-2, VX-3, etc. then all the ballistic and climate info. Anyhow, there was no charge, so not really sure how they keep track of what scopes have got the "free" dial already. The custom dial is a zero stop dial as well. On the card, it says there is also the option of a 1 turn or 2 turn dial stop.

Where do you get the 20 off code?
There is only one dumb question; " why didn't I ask about that?"
My idea of a trophy deer or hog mount is chicken fried, on my plate, ready to eat!

They were mailed out from cabelas. If you can't find one on here you can buy them off ebay for .99 cents.

For those that want a zero-stop on the factory dial.....here's a mod you can do.... zero-stop how to found that the #48 drill bit (.0760) works the best. It must be the drill Leupold uses to pre drill the hole already there. It's a tight fit when inserting in the pre drilled hole on the CDS knob. I just drill deeper and cut the pins from a drill rod. No need to use grease or glue, just tap it in with a punch (snug fit). I must of lucked out on where the pre drill holes on all of my CDS scope (27 of them) the hole are at the second hash mark off zero, When the pin is installed its at zero and when turned all the way up to where it stops, it's 4 marks off before zero. If need to remove just use a fine needle nose to remove the pin. I did this with my first CDS when they first came out, I drilled all of them same depth and made up a piles of pins from drill rod.

Glad I have a store here in town as I had to take one back right out of the box. The inside of the objective lens was either smudged or scratched horribly. I could see something wasn't right with the reflection of a light but when I shined a flashlight on it it was so bad my wife could see it. The other has something that looks like a liquid dried, again on the inside surface of the objective lens. I haven't decided if I'll exchange this one or not. It doesn't appear to affect the view but I'll always know it's there. The one I got in exchange seems to be defect free. The one I took back was also missing the manual and CDS card inside the box.

Did your scopes come stretch-wrapped?

Must be some talented mo-fos to be able to get the crap on the inside of the lens, while doing nothing to the outside.

Never know. But highly unlikely it left the factory with a messed up lens as well as items missing from the box. In any case, Cabela's covers it, and Leupold has a lifetime warranty.

Use a code and open a Cabelas charge and you get $40 off.
I have two codes for the first two 24Campers who send me a PM before the sun comes up. Please post public also also so I don't get too many PMs. Please leave email so I can send the code image.
Payment terms - Free, no Paypal, no MO, no Trades. Checks accepted.
Ordered two and shot with on the other day. Very pleased, especially for the price. Going to have the parallax changed to 50 yrds on one and use it for a 77/22 scope.

Probably a store display model that got stuck back in the box. God knows how many bubbas manhandle the display models every day. To clarify, I ordered these off the website and had them delivered to me. Sorry if I confused the issue by saying I exchanged one at the local store. I'll likely exchange the other today too as well as buy another and the RX-1000i TBR rangefinder they have on sale. I understand poop happens and poop can be fixed. I only posted to give a heads-up in case folks wanted to check theirs before mounting. The two I got were shipped from CO and the labels did not have the blue stripe on them FWIW. The one I got in exchange does have the blue-striped label. What color should the light reflections from the objective lenses be with the glass and coatings on these? I'm seeing orangish reflections, albeit they are different on each scope, that I assume is from the index matched glass. But on one scope there's also a greenish reflection like MC4 coatings and the other one has a bluish reflection like pre-MC4 coatings. Just curious why they're different.
