When saved ounces are essential, Criterion-manufactured lightweight contour barrels provide the perfect fit. With an overall weight as low as 1.40 pounds for the 16" model, our pencil contour barrels offer an extremely lightweight configuration allowing for rapid acquisition and maximized mobility. Uniformity of the bore dimension, groove dimension, and twist, along with a finish produced by hand lapping prove to be necessary in enhancing the ultimate accuracy of each match quality barrel. These barrels will accept both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO ammunition. Also included is an M4 barrel extension.

The DD barrel is 1.38 lbs bare, add a low profile gas block and you're at the same weight. My Troy 13" rail weighs 13 oz. So I'm still wondering where the extra .5 lb. is coming from. But regardless, it's making me want to try again with weight or lack of, as the main goal.

Thanks guys, I can always count on y'all to keep me broke.

Just put a stock Colt SP1, built in the '70s, on the scale.

6.75 pounds.

I can improve on that, I think.

Nope. Full size rifle

Pre-bolt assist, though. I don't know how many ounces that would be.

I just built one with a black hole wesponry slim contour 16" and a Midwest ask keymod 12" rail with a magpul ctr stock. It's around 6.25 pounds but they make a slimmer barrel than mine. Still working on loads but it's shot some 1/2 moa groups with 75g hornady btsp's over ar comp. I really like it and have been carrying it everywhere with me. I hope to try a few more loads with 8208 tomorrow.
